“So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth”. LIFE IN COMMON LAND is conceived to establish strong links between bodies and societies and their collaboration.

PARTICIPANTS

LIFE IN COMMON LAND is a collaborative project where several entities come into play: The Provincial Council of Lugo (Deputación de Lugo) is the project coordinator, while the universities of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and A Coruña (UDC) are the beneficiary partners.

The participation of the common land owners of A Serra do Xistral, he municipalities involved and the Xunta de Galicia (Galicia's Regional Government), represented by the Regional Ministry of Environment and Rural Development and the Regional Ministry of Land Management, are indispensable.

Besides the local and regional entities involved, this LIFE project has a clear international calling, as it seeks to combat threats looming over the target habitats in other regions of Europe. Additionally, it includes a strategy for result transferal and replication. For this reason, the project relies on the involvement as observers of entities such as:

  • Dartmoor Commoners’ Council (United Kingdom).
  • Institute of Technology Sligo (Ireland).
  • Scotland’s Rural College SRUC (United Kingdom).
  • European Forum on Nature Conservation and Pastoralism EFNCP (United Kingdom).
  • Natural England.
