• Dossier for commoners on the good conservation status of priority habitats in the Serra do Xistral

    Proyecto - 23/03/2020

The dossier for the Serra do Xistral's Common Lands is a document oriented to the commoners of this area in which the LIFE IN COMMON LAND project is focused.

It can be downloaded from the dissemination section of the LIFE IN COMMON LAND website, within the technical documents.

https://www.lifeincommonland.eu/en/technical-documentation

This dossier explains the LIFE IN COMMON LAND project, the Natura 2000 Network and its objectives, the Serra do Xistral Natura 2000 site and its priority habitats wet heaths (4020*), active raised bogs (7110*) and active blanket bogs (7130*).

The most important part of this document is the part relating to the Indicators for identifying the conservation status of the habitats mentioned; which includes a visual guide to the conservation status of the habitats, so that the local residents can identify the improved and poorly conserved areas in their mountains and establish measures to improve the conservation of the mountains, while maintaining their livestock activity.

This point is fundamental to the payment schemes for conservation outcomes that the LIFE IN COMMON LAND project is implementing as a demonstrative example in the Serra do Xistral.
